A Surprise Engagement Session
Hawaii has a nice little community of small businesses that love to share and work together. We had the opportunity to work with Sisca and Nathan, a couple from Australia for a styled couples session. Sisca and Nathan had planned their trip to Hawaii and wanted to document their time here, so we presented some ideas and pulled together a team of community oriented business owners. Together we planned, location scouted, coordinated colors, props and pulled together a nice design and setting for a fun event.
We were feeling pretty good about how this was coming together with a beautiful flower arrangement by The Garden Collective Hawaii, custom stationery and beautifully hand crafted prop signage by 43 Stationery in the works and we thought we couldn’t be happier. Things quickly escalated and became next level exciting when later, we got a message from Nathan. He let us know that he was actually going to propose!
We quickly shifted to find a Marry Me sign that would stand out and brainstormed to design the perfect proposal setting. Designed with Aloha had the perfect solution for us and this handmade sign was absolutely a perfect fit. The carefully crafted modern letters measured three feet tall and read “Marry Me”. We mapped out the perfect spot and put together the most adorable picnic spread. With carefully selected candles, trays, delicate champagne flutes and colorful bites this fun day became even more exciting just like that!
On the day of the event, Nathan arrived at the meeting spot and escorted Sisca down a little path that led to an incredible mountain and ocean view and there we were ready to capture her reaction. With the Epic “Marry Me” sign in position, she instantly started crying!
We watched adoringly as he dropped to one knee, presented her with a ring and asked her to be his forever mate. They later sat on the elegantly designed picnic area that we created, snacked on a colorful cheeseboard spread, fruit and cupcakes and then toasted to their future together. It was truly the most romantic gesture. He pulled it off! She said yes... and we were so happy to be part of such a special moment. We photographed the newly engaged couple in front of the Marry Me sign and around the picnic area before the stunning mountain range. Later, Sisca changed into a more formal dress and we captured some more dramatic adventure scenes with Sisca and Nathan standing before crashing waves on a rocky rugged path to the ocean. As the sun went down, they cuddled, smiled, danced and enjoyed this special surprise engagement photography session. Hawaii did not disappoint as it gave them another incredibly beautiful sunset that evening. It was the perfect backdrop for this intimate event.
Sisca was so surprised and just absolutely impressed that Nathan chose this perfect time on their trip to Hawaii to propose and the rest is history. We are so happy for Nathan and Sisca and wish them a lifetime of happiness.
